Lemur Autovision TSDM-001 The Safe Driving Monitor
Product Details
Lemur Autovision The Safe Driving Monitor offers real-time driving feedback for parents of teens and business owners. It provides easy-to-read driving behavior trip reports on a key fob LCD. This monitor can be used by parents of teens as well as fleet owners/operators. The trip report is on the key fob to encourage open information and discussions between parents and teen drivers. This monitor saves money, both at the pump and in the garage. This is not a GPS unit and not a "spy" product. It encourages more attentiveness and safe on-the-road driving habits by making the driver accountable for their driving behavior. When the teen or employee returns with the keys, it reviews the data to ensure that they have driven safely. Knowing that their driving data (trip report) will be reviewed they drive more responsibly in the first place. Each trip report shows three critical pieces of information with a specific function which is maximum speed that helps to prevent excessive speeding, distance traveled which helps to prevent the extra vehicle use and sudden brakes to prevent the distracted driving and speeding on secondary roads. The trip report is PIN protected and can only be reset using a secret 4 digit PIN that the owner has selected. If the wrong PIN is entered TAMPER is displayed on the LCD. The Sensor is tamperproof, therefore if the sensor is unplugged from the vehicle TAMPER is displayed on the key fob LCD. The trip report is easily changed between imperial units (mph and miles) and metric units (km/h and km) with the press of a button. It is self-installed without tools in seconds by plugging a small sensor (included) into the OBD-II port. The OBD-II port is visibly located inside the vehicle under the dash in all cars, trucks and vans manufactured for 1996 or later. The sensor wirelessly transmits the collected data to the key fob to be displayed as the trip report.
- Provides parents of teen drivers and fleet managers with wireless driving data, in imperial (mph) or metric (km/h) units, that promotes safe driving habits, as well as improved gas mileage and lowered maintenance costs
- Tamperproof sensor and PIN-protected key fob ensure validity and security of sampled data
- Compatible with virtually any car, van or light truck manufactured for 1996 or later (with some exceptions), via OBD-II port under the dashboard
- Plug-and-play design requires no tools or computers to access data and allows for easy, quick setup and reset of the device for new drivers
- Features the ability to capture driving data automatically by attaching key fob to your car keys, or by synching with the sensor at the end of the trip
The Safe Driving Monitor is not a GPS unit, or "spy" device. Instead, it is a product designed to provide feedback on driving behavior. When used by new drivers, this feedback encourages open discussion and trust between parents and their teen drivers who have use of a car but may have yet to master the skills and disciple needed to be a safe driver. This feedback is also valuable in the workplace as a tool to reinforce good driving habits by those whose jobs require them to be behind the wheel while on the clock. Safe driving skills take time to learn and practice, and they need reinforcement to maintain. At a minimum, this means obeying posted speed limits and paying full attention to the road. The Safe Driving Monitor is designed to make the driver, regardless of age and experience, accountable for their performance and as a result, promote safe driving. When used properly, it will allow parents to know how their teen has driven. Employers and fleet managers will be able to monitor the way their vehicles are used, with an eye towards maximizing fuel efficiency and minimizing the cost of maintenance and potential traffic accidents. What Does It Measure? The Safe Driving Monitor relies entirely on plug-and-play wireless technology to mine driving data, which means that it requires no tools or even a computer to use. The unit consists of two pieces: a sensor and a key fob. The sensor pulls data directly from your car via the vehicle's OBD-II port. The data is then sent wirelessly to the key fob, which displays the data. The key fob can be attached to the driver's keychain or stored elsewhere. An OBD-II, or "Onboard Diagnostics" port is a standard feature usually located under the driver's side of the dashboard on nearly all cars, vans and light trucks manufactured worldwide since 1996, so the Safe Driving Monitor enjoys nearly universal compatibility aside from a few exceptions.* Key fobs kept in the car register data in real-time and are updated every few seconds, while fobs not in the car can be synched after the fact when brought into range of the still attached sensor while the car is running. The unit also features fob PIN protection, additional security functionality that indicates whether the sensor has been tampered with, the choice of standard or metric data measurement, power supplied jointly by your car's engine and a standard CR2450 lithium battery, and simple, fast setup and reset procedures. Customer Reviews ::
Daughter hates it... I love it! - C. Miller - Wisconsin
The safe Driving Monitor does everything it says it will. It is helping my daughter, who has a lead foot, to be more responsible while driving. I have to say that the customer service department is one of the best I have EVER delt with. I had a problem with the monitor working in my daughters car and the help I received was well above and beyond normal service! They sent me a modified sensor, free of charge, that would work in my daughters car and told me to keep the orginal one incase the modified sensor did not work in other cars. (for future use) I am very happy with this product...and even happier with the customer service department! It may not solve all teen driving issues but it does make them more aware.
